What We Do
-
Our methods aid in rehabilitating and maintaining walking patterns, functional movement, and speech. We work on slowing the progression of this disease.
-
Rooted Music Therapy utilizes interventions to restore a person’s ability to think, communicate, and move after a stroke or acquired brain injury. Common symptoms we treat are aphasia, dysarthria, ataxia, left neglect, and movement dysfunction.
-
Our program focuses on a combination of singing and harmonica exercises to strengthen the lungs and diaphragm. The goals of our harmonica protocol are to improve lung capacity and decrease the need for supplemental oxygen. Patients with a history of COPD, respiratory failure, COVID, pneumonia, new supplemental oxygen use, or other respiratory diseases will benefit from this program.
-
Our Alzheimer’s and Dementia treatments specialize in maintaining memory, attention control, and executive function to limit the progression of these diseases.
-
Rooted Music Therapy works with all levels of spinal cord injury. Treatments are focused on rehabilitating motor function, vocal quality, and/or respiratory function.
Our evidence-based treatments utilize music, rhythm, and instruments to help the following populations reach functional, non-musical goals
-
Treatments for multiple sclerosis are geared towards improving and maintaining speech, motor, and cognitive function. Just like with our Parkinson’s patients, our MS treatment is focused on slowing the disease progression.
-
We work with adults and children with developmental disabilities such as Autism and Cerebral Palsy. Common goal areas are motor, speech/language, sensory integration, and more.
-
If you or your loved one has a neurologic condition not listed on our site, reach out to see how we can help. Our Neurologic Music Therapy techniques can help you rehabilitate or maintain motor, communicative, and cognitive function no matter your diagnosis.
-
Our services are not limited to neurologic conditions. We use interventions to help patients with medical conditions such as cancer and sickle cell disease cope with their diagnosis by treating symptoms of anxiety or depression.
-
Sessions for psychiatric diagnosis can be in group or individual format. Common goal areas are coping skills, emotional processing, cognitive function, reality orientation, anxiety reduction, and self-expression.
